Candy Candy Candy

We're adding new chocolates to our candy cases. I tell you, this job is tough. We've had to taste pounds of chocolate over the last several weeks.

Love our new bars! We visited the Chocolate Bar in New York. The store's typically New York. Tiny and crammed full of chocolate pieces, bars, boxes and cocoa. There's even a CBGB bar launched to help them save themselves. We'll let you know when the bars arrive. Be sure to try the one with pretzel pieces.

You've most likely seen Moon Struck Chocolates on Oprah's "O" List, Town & Country, the New York Times, etc. Their large box was part of the Oscar gift bag last year and got a lot of press. Or, you've heard Nofo's very own candy guru, Jennings, shriek excitedly when receiving fedexed Moon Struck from her dad in Chicago.

It's a tale of global commerce! Moon Struck's made in Portland from Belgian Chocolate by Russian candy makers. Their personable sales rep is from Wilmington and lives in Atlanta. We set up an appointment with him before leaving for the Atlanta show, and met him in our hotel bar.

We were, yet again, forced to eat chocolate. Lots of chocolate.

Anyway, Moon Struck should be in house the first of March. Rich, the rep, has since come to North Carolina and deemed us suitable and worthy. Watch for Moon Struck in our candy case.

When we arrived home from New York, our samples of Nirvana chocolates were here. So, before we unpacked our bags, we gathered to eat more chocolate. And, we were impressed, very impressed. So, look for Nirvana in our candy cases during March. It'll travel from Belgium to Massachusetts to here.

We still love Neuhaus and think their product is superior. They, however, have chosen to produce a "lower level" chocolate that they're selling to Costco. Costco sells this pound box for $15.99. That's far less than we pay, for a pound of Neuhaus. We know it's not the same chocolate, but you don't. And, it's packaged in the same box that we sell. So, we are not happy with Neuhaus even though we love this product. But, do not be afraid, we're simply cutting back a little.

And, please note - if you've only had Neuhaus from Costco, you've NOT really had Neuhaus. Try the real thing at Nofo. You'll know the difference right away.

Its such fun to have the electric blue and green candy coated, chocolate covered sunflower seeds, pistachios and almonds. They are dynamite in a silver bowl!

Hi!

Nofo has a blog.

Gee, I was oh-so-hoping to live long enough to have one. We'll use this blog to keep you informed of what's going on at NOFO, what's new & what's coming in.

And we'll just talk trash. Trash is good.

We've been to Atlanta & New York of late. Markets are tedious - long 12 hours day of sensory overload and making important decisions about what you may want to buy.

You're going to love Christmas next year. There's still tinsel and shine, but the colors are icy, and go really well with the vintage and retro pieces that we spent two days choosing.

Speaking of colors - seems that the world color gurus have decided that it's time to cleanse the palette. Therefore, we'll see lots of black & white, tan, taupe and gray for awhile. Anyway, right now, anything goes. Pink with green or black, brown with blue, and the brights and jewel tones are still there.

NOFO at the Pig had a free Tarot Card reader during the weekend before Valentine's Day. Folks lined up long for a reading about their love lives. Our favorite was an 82 year old woman who waited her turn to "see what was in store" for her. Go, Girl! We love an optimist.
