Thank you for not having Christmas TOO early!

Today, a customer came in our Forum store and thanked us for NOT having our Christmas decorations and merchandise out for sale. She, like us, is fond of fall and doesn't want Halloween and Thanksgiving to pass unrecognized & uncelebrated.

At the Pig this week, a customer complained that she had finished her Christmas shopping. She was upset because we had put out new products. She felt that this new merchandise would be a better gift than what she had already purchsed. Why, she asked, had we not put it out earlier so she'd have known about it? Hmmmmmm..........

We know the Big Boxes have had Christmas product out since August, that Christmas cataloges are clogging your mail slot, and that your children have already made their wish lists based on tv advertisements.

Traditionally, NOFO's been stubborn and not put Christmas out until the weekend after Thanksgiving. But, last year, when the Forum had its window walk in early November, we acquised. So, we give Halloween and Autumn it's due, leave space for Thanksgiving, and put out Christmas the first week of November. We're not sure it's hard to tell if we have caved or compromised.

If you are a purist, forgive us. Don't look! Walk quickly past the shiny trees and lights on your way to purchase your chocolate turkeys, Edward's Hams and Fall cocktail napkins. If you're an eager early shopper, have at it. We really do have a lot of good stuff!
