Pom Pom's

Our new giant pom-pom adorned baby blankets are just too cute. We can just picture a toddler using the pom-pom as a handle to drag the blanket with him wherever he toddles, or a younger child holding on to the pom-pom for security. It's sure to become his "I can't sleep without my blankie" blanket.

Old is New Again

In the "everything old is new again" category: Our Terry bath apron. It's a giant Terry towel with shoulder straps that you slip on over your clothes when bathing your baby. It keeps you dry during the splashy process. When bathtime's over, you scoop the baby up in the towel for drying, cuddle fashion.

We can't understand why this towel apron lost favor. It was something us old moms used every single day & we're so pleased to see it again.

Nofo at the Forum scored the absolute impossible - a 100 on its kitchen inspection. We are so proud!

Tutu Renew

Mary Michelle has the most beautiful daughter who's the perfect tutu wearer. So, Mary Michelle created her version of Nofo's children's tutu. It's divine.

Carolina Girls...best in the world

Carolina girls really are the best in the world! They are certainly the most inventive!

Andrea and Dana from Chatham County (one of the most beautiful counties in North Carolina) make one of a kind painted wooden fish, fowl and other featured creatures. Their company's called Swirl and Nofo is selling Swirl's wall plaques, hanging pieces for porches & trees, and garden stakes. We think you'll love thse brightly colored, cheerful creations.

meet the "Reclamation Artist" in store!

Steve Lynman grew up in Greensboro, NC, attended Appalachin State University, where he met his bride, Paula Stewart Lynman, a native of Morehead City and Wilson, NC. Steve graduated from UNC-CH and he and Paula have lived in Washington, DC, Cape Town, South Africa and Denver, Colorado, always to move back home to North Carolina, their favorite place in the world.

Steve's interest grew in collecting old turn of the century tin ceiling as he ran across it in architectural salvage places during his travels. The unique patterns, textures, and colors of the original tins captured his imagination and motivated him to start reclaiming these artifacts for reuse in home and garden furnishings. The nature of Steve's life, work, and art is essentially to see beyond the presenting externals, that many may disregard, in order to grow that vision of worth and value into something of beauty and purpose. When asked what he does, "reclamation artist" is what he aspires to be.

Come meet Steve and see his beautiful work Saturday, April 29 at Nofo at the Pig in Raleigh from 11-2.

Hot Tamales

Try out new locally made salsa from Pepper Dog Salsa. Made in Apex by a Carolina couple, this salsa comes in mild, medium, and hot and is delicious. Ginger tells us that what makes it so different is that it contains no vinegar & no onions and a special, secret ingredient blended just for them. We think the fresh lime juice makes it special, too. We'll be hosting Tom & Ginger & their Salsas at all three Nofo's this spring & summer. Check our event schedule for dates & times.

Also, have you seen the tiny chocolate tarheel feet chocolates in our candy case? They're N.C. made, too.

Some folks are just so clever. Our college survival kit contains 15 must-have items to help a student deal with the challenges of college life... all packed in a shower tote: ear plugs, thermometer, privacy door sign, a first aid kit, sleep mask, book light, mending kit et al. And, the best - a Domino's Pizza Gift Certificate! Perfect for a high school grad.

For college graduates entering the real world, there's the Working Girl's Survival Kit and one for Working Guys. No desk should be without one.

We made a magazine!

Our State magazine features Nofo in its May issue. It's a beautiful three page spread, and we are so happy to be in this fine publication! Be sure to get a copy and read about us.

Spring dining (in the outdoors)

Alfresco dining at the Pig is tough on us. We love being outside and are thankful that we can offer it to our customers. However, when rain threatens, temperatures are over_____ degree or under 70 degree, pollen's turning everything green, the squirrels are dropping acorns in your soup, our oak is shedding its leaves, or summer mosquitoes are also dining out, our customer's seem to prefer dining indoors.

It's hard to hire a waitperson to work only when conditions are perfect, but we try to have it open everyday for lunch & brunch and Thurs-Sat dinner. We're expecting perfect tarheel weather, so come over & dine outside!

Mother's Day gift idea

Did you see Moonstruck's flower pot chocolates in Family Circle magazine? They chose them as a great and beautiful Mother's Day gift....
